When adding calcium chloride to pools, add small amounts at a time to ensure that the water does not become hard. Test as you go to ensure you don’t over-saturate. Hard water has a high level of calcium and magnesium, and this can turn the pool water cloudy, and cause a crusty, greyish scale on surfaces. This clogs filters, reduces heater efficiency, and is unsightly.
